Hi there,
Just purchased Beat Scholar after trying for a total of 1 day - what a piece of software! Hats of to the developers for bringing the joy back to beat creation (my other go to's just didn't have the same fun flow). Wanted to ask though, when using Beat Scholar - even standalone - my AMD 3700x cpu is hitting about 10% while Beat Scholar is not even under heavy load, ie, 8 bars, 5 separate sounds. Is this normal behaviour; have you seen optimization as a possible issue? Or is it just me!
Keep up the good work guys, this software is an absolute pleasure to work with.
Hello, similar issue here... beat scholar is taking 27-30% CPU on idle.
Having the GUI displayed, especially when the window is big, slows down the whole GUI of my DAW and makes everything sluggish.
Specs:
Renoise x64 3.4.2 Windows 10 21H2
Focusrite Scarlett IO 18i20
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X at 3.6GHz 3440x1440 ultrawidescreen monitor (21:9) at 100hz (Windows HDPI scaling on at 125%, Renoise HDPI scaling turned off for plugin).
Tested it a little further, and it's a weird one. I'm not sure if it's just my pc set up - but it's not even the sequencer causing the cpu increase. It's viewing the sequencer causes the cpu to spike about 8% on my 3700x cpu. When minimized/closed (inside/outside the DAW) but the sequencer still running, the cpu usage drops right down.
Testing in Bitwig Studio on Windows 10 Buffer size 256 at 44100 (Overrun deadline = 5.805 ms) BS Idle with all engines turned on = 7.0% average load (DAW CPU) BS Idle with Aux engine turned off = 2.7% average load Turning Master engine off has no effect on average load 2.7% average load seems pretty good for a drum sequencer plugin!
Hey! Thank you so much for this amazing comment. Regarding CPU: The current high CPU is a bug we're working on. I believe most of the usage is coming from the Reverb: You can test by turning off the Auxes in the preset menu, which at least on my machines drops the CPU to a very low amount. Would you mind letting me know if that's the case with you too? We're in the process of solving this and hopefully applying a patch in the next few days which should improve it dramatically. Smell you later! :) Eyal
